and the ocean are the dominant features in Gros Morne National Park. The Long
Range Mountains of Western Newfoundland contain the most outstanding scenery east
of the Rockies. Rocky Harbour Rocky Harbour is located in
the heart of Gros Morne National Park. One of the biggest tourists attractions
is the lighthouse which is located in Lobster Cove. Corner Brook
Corner Brook, the second largest city in Newfoundland, is situated in a hilly
lowland region surrounded by the Long Range Mountains of Western Newfoundland.
Corner Brook is located at the mouth of the Humber River, one of the provinces
most scenic areas. Shopping, cultural activities, sports, fine dining, an active
nightlife and many more exciting activities can be found in Corner Brook. The
Irish Loop The Irish Loop region begins at Bay Bulls, which is approximately
25 kilometres outside St. John's, and continues for 180 kilometres to Riverhead,
St. Mary's Bay. It features archaeological sites, hiking trails and wildlife,
such as caribou, seabirds and whales. A highlight of the trip is the Witless Bay
Seabird Ecological Reserve. It has the largest Atlantic Puffin colony in North
America, and the second largest Leach Storm Petrel colony in the world.
